Connecticut Ultra Traverse (CUT112 and CUT50)

The Connecticut Ultra Traverse is a point to point trail running event offering two route options that follow the New England Trail blue blazes to Long Island Sound in Guilford, CT. The field travels over long singletrack, ridges, state parks, reservoirs, and preserves across Connecticut.

  • 112 miles following the Blue Blazes of the New England Trail from the MA-CT border to Guilford.
  • 50 miles following the Mattabesset and Menuncatuck trails from MUT's End at the Berlin Turnpike to Guilford.

Entrants are expected to provide or arrange their own safety and support. Organizers will coordinate aid and provide spreadsheets and guidance, but runners need a dedicated crew to act as a rolling aid station and meet at road crossings. Finishers of the 112 mile route receive entry swag and finishers buckles; there are no formal prizes.

The course is not marked except by blue blazes. Runners must navigate the route themselves and be experienced at traveling trails at night. Road sections remain open to traffic, so runners and crews should use reflective gear and exercise caution. The route includes locations such as Suffield Mountain, Ragged Mountain, Castle Craig, Chauncey Peak, and the Guilford Point waterfront, and contains at least 16,722 ft of vertical gain.

This event has no permits, donations to the Connecticut Forest and Parks Association are optional but nonrefundable, and organizers reserve the right to deny entry or require a runner to leave the course if asked by landowners or law enforcement. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
