Trails 4 Tails
Trails 4 Tails is a trail running event held at Codorus State Park in Hanover, Pennsylvania. Organized by the York Ridge Runners, the event takes place on a course consisting of 5.72-mile loops. The terrain includes a mix of singletrack trails, open fields, and approximately one mile of pavement. Depending on the conditions, the route may include sections along the lake shoreline. Participants pass through several historical and natural landmarks, including the Chestnut Orchard, the site of Rummel Farm, and the Mary Ann Furnace area.
The direction of the course changes annually, with runners moving counterclockwise in even-numbered years. The start and finish area is located at Pavilion #1, which provides access to restroom facilities and a central aid station. This station is stocked with various food and drink items, including pierogies, quesadillas, grilled cheese, bacon, and Tailwind.
Available race distances include:
- 40 Mile Ultra: Consists of 7 loops with approximately 4,200 feet of total elevation gain.
- 40 Mile Relay: Teams of up to 7 runners complete 7 loops, with each loop featuring 600 feet of gain.
- 25K+: Consists of 3 loops totaling roughly 17.2 miles with 1,800 feet of elevation gain.
The event features a 11-hour time limit for the 40-mile distances and a 7.5-hour limit for the 25K. A race-day picnic with cookout food is provided for participants and supporters.
