Trail Outlaws: Durham Trail 10M
Trail Outlaws stages the Durham Trail 10 mile race on 23 May 2027 as part of the Urban Trail Series. The event is based at The Graham Sports Centre, University of Durham, Durham DH1 3SE, and is limited to 400 runners.
The route starts in Durham City and follows river and woodland trails, including the River Wear Dale Way, Shincliffe and Croxdale woods. The course returns to the city and finishes after a climb to Whinney Hill, which offers an elevated view of Durham Cathedral. Course ascent is 1080 feet and descent is 1179 feet. The race must be completed within 3 hours.
The course is marked and marshalled. Navigation is the responsibility of each runner and competitors must log their number at checkpoints and keep their bib visible. There are two checkpoints offering water and sweets, with water also available at the finish. Mandatory kit includes shoes suitable for the ground conditions. First aid equipment is provided at the race checkpoint and the start and finish area includes paramedic and ambulance cover.
Timing and results are electronic and available online. All finishers receive a bespoke medal. Additional provisions include free event parking, digital photography and the option to purchase an event t shirt. Entry fee is £25. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
