Tour des Marches Challenge Walk
The event is based at Wistanstow Village Hall and offers three waymarked courses through southwest Shropshire. Routes visit Clun and Bishops Castle and run largely within the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The courses follow an undulating rural route with fields and country lanes.
Distances offered:
- 12 miles Wistanstow to Clun
- 18 miles Wistanstow to Bishop's Castle
- 26 miles full route returning to Wistanstow
The entry limit is 150 and a waiting list operates when places are full. No entries are accepted on the day. The minimum age for entrants is 14; participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Runners are welcome. Entry fees differ for LDWA members and non members. Entry includes a snack breakfast, snacks and drinks at checkpoints, and a hot finish meal with vegetarian and vegan options; participants are asked to bring a mug. Toilets are available at two main checkpoints.
Support provisions include transport for retirees and for walkers on the 12 and 18 mile courses, maps and a detailed route description, certificates and a finishers list. Participants should carry suitable equipment for the duration and the expected weather. Dogs are not permitted.
