About the race
Tough Mudder Chicago takes place at Richardson Adventure Farm in Spring Grove, Illinois. This venue spans over 500 acres and is known for its large corn maze and varied terrain, including open cornfields, wooded trails, pastures, and creek beds. The event is scheduled over two days in late August and features several participation options focused on team cooperation and navigating obstacles.
Participants can choose from various distances and formats:
- 15 km: This course features more than 20 obstacles and is available on both Saturday and Sunday.
- 5 km: This shorter route includes more than 12 obstacles and is also held on both days.
- Infinity: This format allows for multiple laps, starting with a 15 km course followed by additional 15 km or 5 km laps within a set time limit.
Specific obstacles at the venue include the Berlin Walls, which are 8-foot high structures, the Arctic Enema ice pit, and Augustus Gloop, where participants climb an enclosed tube while being sprayed with water. Finishers receive a medal, a performance T-shirt, and a headband. The event also provides a Mudder Village festival area with live entertainment and local food for participants and spectators.
