About the race
The Tom's Cairn trail races take place in Finzean, Deeside on 20 Sep 2026 and are organised by the Parent Council for Finzean School and Ballogie Nursery. The organising committee are experienced runners who set up the event to raise funds for the school and nursery.
The event includes these distances:
- 10.4 km route, 239 m ascent to the top of Tom's Cairn. Minimum age 16.
- 5 km gentle run through the estate woods. For adults and senior school children.
- Children's fun race round the fields near the Church, ice cream provided.
Proceeds from the races support Finzean School and Ballogie Nursery, funding teaching materials and subsidising educational trips. The races also feature on-site refreshments with homebakes and hot drinks, with cash and card donations accepted.
