TimberRidge Adventure Race
TimberRidge Adventure Race takes place at a park on the western edge of Johnson County in Olathe, Kansas, at 11670 S Homestead Lane. The venue includes hiking and biking trails, prairie grasslands, and a lake. The event runs rain or shine.
Races are offered in multi hour formats that mix navigation and multiple travel modes. The longer format includes trekking, mountain biking, and paddling with checkpoints shown on pre plotted topographic maps. Maps are distributed at packet pickup on the morning of the event and require basic skills in reading terrain features and measuring distance. The event is self supported; racers must carry their own water, food, first aid, and required gear. Several checkpoints are mandatory transition areas, while most are optional so teams may skip some and still finish.
The shorter format is all on foot and uses paved trails plus off trail sections through brush and trees. It is designed with beginners in mind but may include a few difficult challenges. Terrain for the shorter course can include paved trail, brush, trees, and possible water crossings.
Distances offered include:
- 25 Miles six hour mixed discipline distance
- 5 Miles two hour foot only distance
