Trail Running in South Williamsport
The Think Big Trail Challenge takes place at the Williamsport Water Authority, specifically starting at 1600 Mosquito Valley Rd. This event serves as a benefit for the Think Big Pediatric Cancer Fund. Participants can choose between two distinct off-road distances:
- 5 km
- 10 km
The course features a variety of terrains, including gravel roads, smooth singletrack, and more technical sections with rocky terrain and steep climbs. A notable segment is the Bluebird Trail, which follows forest paths past the historic Remington Ruins. The 10 km route includes the Pocowanache Trail, which involves a challenging ascent to a scenic vista before descending back toward the finish.
Both distances share a centralized aid station located at the Green Bridge. The event provides awards for first-place male and female runners in several age categories, ranging from 15 and under to 60 and over. Special commemorative awards and cash prizes are designated for the top female and male finishers aged 15 and under in the 10 km race.
Registration includes race swag for the first 200 participants who sign up. While pre-registration is available online until late September, the organizers also offer registration on the day of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
