About the race
The Unforeseen is a trail running event in Charlotte, NC, held on November 14, 2026 and organized by Kingfisher Ultras at Reedy Creek Nature Preserve (2986 Rocky River Rd). The event offers two formats: a random-distance race and a six hour option.
The random-distance race uses a dice roll conducted shortly before the start to determine the final distance; possible distances range from 4.5 to 27 miles. Laps are 2.25 miles each. The six hour option allows participants to complete as many 2.25 mile laps as they can within six hours.
The course is a 2.25 mile lap of flat gravel and single track. The route flows around trails and returns to a start and finish area near the pavilion. Trail junctions are marked with yellow arrows. A GPX route for the course is available. The aid station is the pavilion behind the nature center and will provide snacks, jugs for refills, trash cans, and first aid. Race photographs will be provided free of charge.
Bibs must be clearly visible so laps can be accounted for. The winner will receive a Damascus steel knife from Arbor Novo. The event’s refund policy returns 100% within 90 days, 50% within 30 days, and no refunds within 10 days; if the race is canceled entrants will be granted another free race.
