Course Details
The terrain consists of 99.9% mountain trail and fire break roads, with very minimal asphalt at lower elevation crossings. Participants may encounter various conditions such as rocks, mud, rain, snow, and potential stream crossings. The course includes technical sections of ascent and descent. For the marathon, specific cutoff times are enforced at the Grove Creek, Battle Creek, and Dry Canyon aid stations.
The route is marked with pink and blue flagging. Pink flags indicate the path, while the combination of pink and blue flags signals a turn. The race does not provide mile markers or on-course personnel for navigation; participants are expected to be familiar with the course or capable of following GPX maps.
Logistics and Support
The marathon distance features nine aid stations, including the start and finish lines. Locations include Cliff Edge, Dry Canyon Trailhead, Battle Creek Trailhead, and Grove Creek Trailhead. A drop bag service is available at the Grove Creek aid station, and gear left at the Battle Creek aid station is returned to the starting area after the final runner passes. Registration includes a race shirt, though this is not guaranteed for late registrants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
