Deer Creek Half Marathon
The Deer Creek Half Marathon starts and finishes at the Deer Creek Dam Trailhead and runs along the shoreline of Deer Creek Reservoir, offering views of the lake and surrounding mountains in both directions. The race is a trail run with rolling hills; the course is described as beginner friendly while still containing sustained climbs and descents.
The course is well marked using pink flags, ribbons, signs, and trail marshals. Aid stations are stocked with water, Gatorade, Honey Stinger gels and waffles, fruit, and assorted snacks. Finishers receive a locally made medal and a high-quality race shirt. Live results and free race photos with bib recognition are provided; photos are delivered without a watermark. A post-race breakfast from Great Harvest Bread includes cinnamon rolls, cookies, and pumpkin chocolate chip bread, plus chocolate milk, orange juice, and bananas.
Packet pickup is available Friday 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Salt Lake Running Company in Sandy; race day pickup begins at 5:00 am. Registration pricing is tiered: Early $60 (ends 1/10), Normal $70, Late $80 (begins 6/10). Late registration opens June 10 and closes July 9 at 11:59 pm; same day registration is not available. Overall male and female awards are topographic plaques for places 1–3, and age-division medals are awarded 1–3 in the listed age groups. Free parking is available around the pavilion.
