The Stockville

The Stockville is a two-day foot and navigation event inspired by the mountain marathons of Europe and the UK. Each morning racers receive maps for a linear, point-to-point course that travels through the wilds of central Pennsylvania. Maps are pre-plotted, often include checkpoint clues, and are printed on water-resistant paper; scales are typically 1:24,000 or sometimes 1:30,000.

The final checkpoint on Day 1 becomes the start location for Day 2 at midcamp, a community campout where participants share food and shelter. Organizers will transport tents and cooking supplies to midcamp. Racers must carry all food and personal gear required for the duration of the event. There is a mandatory route each day that all competitors must complete to officially finish; additional optional checkpoints are available for faster, more experienced teams and will include off-trail navigation.

Details for the 2026 running include a planned date of November 14 and 15 with permitting through Tiadaghton State Forest and divisions for solos and teams of two to four racers. Typical entry benefits include custom swag, live tracking, a comprehensive safety team, midcamp snacks, post-race pizza, camping at midcamp, on-course logistics and overnight parking. The event follows Leave No Trace and USARA LNT guidelines in course design and permitting. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
