The Stockville

The Stockville is a two-day foot and navigation event inspired by the mountain marathons of Europe and the UK. Each morning racers receive maps for a linear, point-to-point course through the wilds of central Pennsylvania. The final checkpoint on Day 1 is midcamp, which also serves as the community camp where tents and cooking supplies are provided and racers gather overnight.

Each day includes a mandatory route that all racers must complete to officially finish. Optional checkpoints are available for teams seeking more advanced, off trail navigation; the mandatory route keeps teams largely on trails. Racers must carry all food and personal gear for the duration of the event. Organizers transport communal tents and cooking supplies to midcamp.

Divisions include solos and teams of two to four racers in single-gender or mixed-gender categories. The event is permitted with Tiadaghton State Forest for 2026 and is sanctioned by the United States Adventure Racing Association; participants must hold an annual membership or purchase a single-event license.

Maps are printed on water-resistant paper and may be 8.5x11 or 11x17, typically at 1:24,000 scale or sometimes 1:30,000. The mandatory gear list is enforced and spot gear checks may result in penalties. The entry package typically includes custom swag, live tracking, safety support, midcamp snacks, post-race pizza, camping at midcamp, and overnight parking. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
