Tiadaghton Trail Challenge, Waterville PA
The Tiadaghton Trail Challenge is a trail running event on November 14, 2026, held at the Tiadaghton State Forest Resource Management Center near Waterville, PA. The event offers two distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
Both courses start and finish at the forest resource center and follow singletrack, old logging grades, and sections of the Tiadaghton Trail and Pine Creek Rail Trail. The terrain is described as technical, with rocky and moss-covered sections, steep ascents and descents, shale outcrops, and stream crossings. Scenic features include forested hemlock and oak areas, vistas, trout streams, and small cascading waterfalls.
The 10K is a loop that uses the Old Wagon Road, Gleason Trail ascent, and returns along the Pine Creek Rail Trail. The half marathon adds an additional loop to higher ridgelines, includes the Eiger Trail with a steep climb, the Log Slide Trail descent, and a challenging Wolf Path ascent before returning via Middle Hill Trail.
Aid stations are fully stocked with typical trail fuel. Awards are given to the first male and female overall finishers. Pre-registered participants receive event swag and there is a post race celebration with food. Registration closes October 31. The event states that there are no refunds, no deferrals, no bib transfers, no bandits, and no same day registration.
All proceeds benefit a memorial scholarship fund that awards at least one graduating senior from Jersey Shore Area High School each year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
