The Skyline Scramble

The Skyline Scramble is an endurance trail running event held at Skyline Park in Topeka, Kansas. The course consists of a 2.15-mile single-loop track through the wooded south summit. Participants navigate a rugged terrain featuring rocks, roots, boardwalks, and approximately 250 feet of elevation gain per loop. The track includes the highest point on Burnett’s Mound.

The event follows a fixed-time format where runners aim to complete as many full loops as possible within their chosen timeframe. Available individual categories include:

  • 12 Hour
  • 6 Hour
  • 3 Hour
  • 2 Mile Kids Run

A 12-Hour Team Relay is also available for teams of three participants. Each team member must complete at least one loop, and the team shares a single race bib to accumulate total mileage. For the 2-Mile Kids Run, children in grades K-8 compete in elementary or middle school divisions on a single full loop of the course.

Participants have access to an aid station and a designated area for personal gear or canopies at the start and finish line. Runners are permitted to visit their vehicles during the event, as parking for 12-hour participants is located near the course for accessibility. All finishers receive a commemorative shirt and an award. Custom awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in the individual timed events, as well as the winning relay team.
