Slough & Steady
The Slough & Steady event takes place in Ozawkie, Kansas, utilizing the Perry Lake trail system. The course is divided into five distinct sections, providing a mix of woodlands, high bluffs, and views of Lake Perry. Participants can expect roughly 3,300 feet of elevation gain for every 50 km loop. The trail is marked with blue paint on trees and posts, with double blue marks indicating turns.

The route starts and finishes at Apple Valley. The first section is characterized by changes in topography and elevation as the path moves through Longview Park and along lake bluffs. This area includes an unmanned water drop at mile 4.7 and reaches the first fully stocked manned aid station at mile 8.2. 25 km participants use this location as their turnaround point to return to the start.
Further sections of the course transition from technical trails to segments of runnable gravel and low-maintenance dirt roads, such as Kiowa Road and 82nd Street. These middle sections pass through timber, drainage areas, and field crossings. Manned aid stations are positioned at the old Lowry school building, the Slough Creek boat ramp, and the Slough Creek campground.
