About the race
Free State Trail Run is scheduled for October 11, 2026 in Meriden, KS, with the start location at the Delaware TrailHead of Perry MTB Trails / Kimberly Drive Trailhead. The event is organized by Trail Nerds and offers multiple looped distances on a marked single track trail.
The course is a 6.75 mile loop run entirely on single track through hardwood forest. The trail is described as rocky and technical with modest elevation change and occasional views of Lake Perry. Elevation change per loop is listed as 752 ft ascent and 752 ft descent.
Distances
- 40 Mile: six 6.75 mile loops
- Marathon: four 6.75 mile loops
- Half Marathon: two 6.75 mile loops
- Quarter Marathon: one 6.75 mile loop
Aid and support include a staffed start / finish aid station with water, sports drink, Coke, Ginger Ale, and food. Remote unstaffed water stations are at approximately mile 2.6 and mile 4.3 and will not have cups. Runners are advised to carry a hydration device. Full aid and porta potties are available only at the start / finish area.
Other event details: manual timing with bibs worn visibly on the front, one drop bag allowed except for the quarter marathon, pacer rules for the 40 mile distance, canine rules up to the half marathon, finisher hardware and event swag for early registrants, and listed entry fees for 2025.
