The Maverick Brighton Trail Marathon
The Maverick Brighton Trail Marathon is a 42.2 km off-road marathon held on 4 April 2027 with a start venue at Stanmer Park, Brighton (BN1 9RG). The route crosses the South Downs National Park and combines woodland singletrack, chalk ridgelines, farmland paths and undulating terrain, with a total elevation gain of +902 m. The course includes an ascent of Ditchling Beacon, the highest point in East Sussex, on a road closed for the event.
Runners join the Brighton Marathon course for the final 6 km and finish on Hove Lawns. There are three outposts at approximately 12 km, 22 km and 37 km providing snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks; these are top-up stations and runners should carry their own supplies and a reusable cup. Cut-off aims to complete the route in 6 hr 30: OP1 (12 km) 11:15, OP2 (22 km) 12:45, OP3 (37 km) 15:05. Runners passing OP3 after 15:05 may complete the route on pavement rather than on the road.
On-course services include fully marked course, precision fuel and hydration stations, timing and online results, event photography, drop bag service, toilets at start/finish and outposts, food and drink at the venue, transport from the finish back to the start and pay & display parking at University of Sussex car parks.
