The Loop South Devon
The Loop is a 20 mile trail run or hike on 11th October 2026 based at Broadsands Beach in Torbay. Race headquarters and the start and finish are at Broadsands Beach. The event has a 9 hour cut off.
The route starts on Broadsands Beach and heads inland through Churston, Galmpton and Greenway, then passes Long Wood and Hoodown Wood. It crosses the steam railway to the River Dart and Kingswear before joining the South West Coast Path. Coastal sections follow woodland cliff paths, coves, beaches and scenic hills to Brixham Harbour, loop around the harbour, then return on trails to the finish. The route includes approximately 4000 ft of ascent.
Navigation on the South West Coast Path sections uses the SWCP acorn signs. Organisers provide extra signage and marshals in Brixham and on parts of the inland route, but participants must carry a printed map or have the route uploaded to a phone or watch for navigation.
There are two aid stations on the route offering water, coke, squash and snacks such as flapjacks, crisps, nuts, pretzels, party rings and malt loaf. The event is cupless; participants must carry a water bottle, cup or running backpack to refill at water containers. Mandatory kit includes trail shoes, capacity to carry one litre of fluid full to start, a mobile phone with the event emergency number, £20 cash or card for emergencies, a foil blanket or extra dry layer, waterproof jacket and route map. All participants must be over 18. Entry fees are listed as £35 for affiliated runners and £37 for unaffiliated runners and hikers. Finish items include a bespoke medal and a sweet treat.
