About the race

Oh My Obelisk is a multi terrain running event based in Dawlish with two route choices. Both routes start at Dawlish Leisure Centre and include mud, hills, fields, woodland tracks and quiet country lanes with views.

Participants can choose between these distances:

  • Approximately 13.6 miles
  • 9 miles

The 9 mile route returns to Dawlish at the end of the second Long Lane section through fields and lanes. The longer route continues into Mamhead forest, passes the Obelisk and then returns to the Leisure Centre finish.

Entry windows and key dates are specified by the organiser: an early bird period from 22 September to 31 October 2026, standard entries opening 1 November 2026, and entries closing on Friday 15 January 2027. Entrants who register by midnight 30 November can select a T shirt size; after that sizes will be subject to availability with unisex medium or large offered on the day.

The event is ARC permitted under permit number ARC/26/0042. The half marathon has a 4.5 mile cut off at one hour; runners arriving after that time will be directed onto the 9 mile course. The event is cupless so runners should bring a bottle for refill stations. Number collection and approved number transfers take place on the morning of the race. Parking at Dawlish Leisure Centre is limited and a charged car park is available at Sandy Lane near Shooters Bar.

Prizes are awarded to the first three male and female finishers in both distances. The wearing of bone conducting headphones is permitted at a volume that allows awareness of marshals and other competitors. Dogs are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
