About the race

The Dirt Dash takes place at Johns Island County Park in South Carolina. The event is organized by Palmetto Ultras and features a course set among ancient oaks and Spanish moss. The terrain consists of a 3.3 mile loop that includes wide cross-country trails, single and double track trails, and sections of grassy paths.

Participants navigate through open meadows and wooded areas within the Lowcountry landscape. Since the race follows a looped format, runners return to the main start and finish area periodically. A designated drop bag area is available near the aid station for participants to store nutrition, fluids, or gear.

Available distances include:

  • 5K (one loop)
  • 10K (two loops)
  • Half Marathon (four loops)
  • Marathon (eight loops)

The event features a fully stocked aid station at the start and finish line providing water, electrolyte drinks, and various snacks. There is also one water stop located on the course. The race is cupless, requiring participants to carry their own bottles or hydration systems. On-site amenities include a bath house with restrooms and showers. Camping for tents and RVs is available at the park the night before the event. All race distances have a total time limit of 7 hours to complete the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
