The Cider Run : Green Newton Adventures
The Cider Run takes place on the private Woodnewton Farm trail network at Slabtown Cider Co. near Uxbridge, Ontario. The route passes through rolling hardwood forest on the Oak Ridges Moraine and features flowing singletrack, rooty technical sections, short punchy climbs and runnable descents. Course maps are released shortly before the event because the trails cross private property.
Available distances and options include:
- 40K The Bushel five loops, technical terrain
- 16K The Peck two loops, additional climbing
- 8K The Apple one loop, flowing singletrack
- 3.5K The Sauce Hike hike, supports trail restoration
- 3.5K Kids' Timed a youth trail race
- 1K Kids' Fun Run free kids run supporting Jumpstart
After finishing, participants can gather at Slabtown Cider Co. for locally prepared food and handcrafted cider. The event is cup free and asks attendees to bring their own reusable cup or bottle. Environmental measures include donations to local organizations: 100% of the Kids 1K registrations go to Jumpstart and 50% of Sauce Hike fees support Woodnewton trail restoration. Parking is available on site but limited, so carpooling is encouraged. Dogs, strollers, Nordic walking poles and headphones are not permitted on the course.
Awards are presented to the top three female, male and non-binary finishers in each age category and to the top three overall finishers; awards must be picked up at the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
