The Cider Run
The Cider Run is organised by Green Newton Adventures at Slabtown Cider Co. on the private Woodnewton Farm trail network near Uxbridge, Ontario. The event takes place on forested trails across the Oak Ridges Moraine and features flowing singletrack, rooty technical sections, and noticeable elevation changes. Course maps are published shortly before race day because the routes travel through private property.
Multiple distances are offered:
- 40K five loops
- 16K two loops
- 8K one loop
- 3.5K kids timed race
- 1K kids charity fun run
- 3.5K Sauce Hike
Post-race provisions include locally prepared food and handcrafted Slabtown cider at the venue. The event highlights environmental initiatives: it is a cup-free event (participants should bring a reusable cup or bottle), a portion of Sauce Hike fees supports Woodnewton trail restoration, and Kids 1K registrations support Jumpstart. Parking is available on site but limited; portable washrooms are provided near the start and finish area. The organisers provide awards for top finishers by gender and age categories and require award pickup at the race.
The event policy notes that registration fees are final with no refunds or transfers, and race details such as routes and maps may change based on trail conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
