The Ceely Rose Twelve Hour Survival Run
The event takes place October 17–18, 2026 at Malabar Farm State Park in Lucas, Ohio. It is a 12 hour endurance format offered as a solo run and a team relay with up to four runners per team. The course is an amended loop of approximately 2.25 miles that includes pavement, gravel, and grass; runners will pass the Ceely Rose house twice on each lap.
Participants have a tiered registration fee schedule listed for solo entrants and per runner for relays: solo fees are $40 before 06/01/2026, $55 before 08/01/2026, and $70 after 08/01/2026; team relay per runner fees are $30 before 06/01/2026, $40 before 08/01/2026, and $50 after 08/01/2026. Registrants by 09/28/2026 receive a long sleeved T.
Runners have 12 hours to complete as many laps as possible. Because portions of the course are on road and the event occurs in the dark, headlamps and reflective or fiber gear are recommended. An aid station and porta pots will be located at the start/finish area; participants are also advised to bring personal supplies for an extended effort.
The event notes a historical connection: about 130 years ago Ceely Rose poisoned three family members and was later confined to state institutions; she was buried on hospital grounds and local accounts mention her presence at Malabar Farm. Awards are planned for the top three finishers and funds will be donated to the Malabar Farm Foundation to assist in preserving the site.
