5 Trigs Ultra - 24 Hour Ultra Challenge
The 5 Trigs Ultra is a 24 hour trail challenge based at Maes Carafanau Llanbenwch, Wrexham Road, Ruthin, in the Vale of Clwyd, North East Wales. The event is open to walkers and runners who may enter solo or in teams of two to four.
Entry options include:
- 5 Trigs: 98 km, 3827 m ascent
- 4 Trigs: 70 km, 2506 m ascent
- 3 Trigs: 50 km, 1704 m ascent
The route is fully marked and organised as out and back visits to each trig point with a return to the campsite after each visit. Navigation should be straightforward because each trig is visited one at a time. The event is timed over a 24 hour period.
Trigs completed in order with total out and back distances from the campsite:
- Mynydd Cricor - 7 km, 237 m
- Moel Gyw - 15.5 km, 595 m
- Pincyn Llys - 25 km, 872 m
- Moel Morfydd - 23 km, 802 m
- Moel Famau - 28.5 km, 1321 m
On-site facilities include toilets, showers, changing, bag drop, cafe access, vehicle and camping access. Electric hook up pitches are available for an additional cost.
