The 5 Trigs of Trigmas - 24 Hour Ultra Challenge
This is a 24 hour walking and running event based at Maes Carafanau Llanbenwch, Wrexham Road, Ruthin, in the Vale of Clwyd, North East Wales. Entrants can take part solo or as teams of three, with teams typically splitting the five trig visits so two trigs are completed by each team member.
The route is fully marked and organised as out-and-back visits to each trig point, returning to the event base between each leg. Completing all five trigs covers a total distance of 94 km. There is a shorter option that involves the first four trigs and covers 70 km; this option is also scheduled within the same 24 hour period.
On-site facilities at the caravan park and cafe include toilets, showers, changing facilities, bag drop, cafe access and access to vehicles and camping setups. An electric hook-up pitch can be booked for the event at an additional cost. Parking for event participants is available without extra charge.
The event lists specific trig legs with their total out-and-back distances from the campsite:
- Mynydd Cricor - 7 km
- Moel Gyw - 15.5 km
- Pincyn Llys - 25 km
- Moel Morfydd - 23 km
- Moel Famau - 24.5 km
Participants receive a bespoke medal and a certificate. There will be on-site music and event-day support. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
