tBunk Endurance Challenge
The tBunk Endurance Challenge is a multi-distance trail running event held on the Nordic trail system in the Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest in southeast Wisconsin. The event is named in honor of Tom Bunk. Proceeds are used for projects in the Kettle Moraine State Forest; the first funded project was a permanent shelter at the Scuppernong trailhead.
Distances offered include:
- 200 Mile
- 150 Mile
- 100 Mile
- 50 Mile
- 50 Km
- 15K Fun Run (no awards, timing, or official results; participants receive the same shirt, goodie bag, and aid station support)
The venue address is N9084 Cty. Rd. H, Whitewater, WI 53190. Pre-registration is online from May 1 to November 1 (midnight); race-day registration is also available. Runners may switch distances after signing up by contacting the race director no later than one week before the event. All entry fees are non-refundable. A Wisconsin State Park sticker is required for all vehicles and is not included in the entry fee.
There is no campground at the Nordic trailhead and overnight parking is usually restricted. Overnight parking and tent or canopy setup are allowed on the Friday and Saturday nights only in designated areas; camper and RV parking is permitted in the lot without utility hook-ups. Camping before or after the event is available at the Ottawa Lake campground.
Support details include a fully stocked manned aid station at the start/finish and an unmanned aid station with fluids and snacks about halfway along the Blue loop; crews and spectators are not allowed at the unmanned station. The race is cupless, so runners must carry a container for refills; cups for hot liquids will be available. Drop bags are permitted at the start/finish. Pacers are permitted for the 200M, 150M, and 100M after the first five loops; pacers are not allowed in the 50M or 50K. Awards are given to overall male and female champions in each event except the night 50K and the 15K Fun Run; there are no age group awards. Finishers of the 200M, 150M, 100M, and 50M receive a buckle, and 50K finishers receive a medallion. A 200M runner who drops out but completes 150 or more miles within 48 hours will receive a 150 mile buckle. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
