TARCtic Frozen Yeti
The TARCtic Frozen Yeti is a winter trail event at Hale Education (Powissett Lodge) in Westwood, Massachusetts, held on Saturday and Sunday, February 6 and 7, 2027. The event offers these distances:
- 30 hour
- 15 mile
The course is roughly 15 miles and is made up of three loops of about five miles each. Each loop starts and finishes at Powissett Lodge and is marked with colored loop entrances and pink flagging with reflective tape; directional arrows are placed at major intersections. For the 30 hour race the organizers will sequentially close loops during the event; one loop will remain open for the final hours. 30 hour participants must complete at least 30 miles to have a recorded finishers distance and receive a finisher item.
Aid stations are located at the start/finish of each loop, approximately every five miles. This is a cupless race; participants must carry their own hydration system. Aid station offerings typically include electrolyte mix, soda, water and ice, banana slices and oranges, dried fruit, cookies, candy, chips, peanut butter sandwiches, hot broth, ramen, and pickles. Composting is in use at aid stations.
Participants may place two labeled drop bags at the lodge (one inside, one outside). Snowshoes are not allowed; trekking poles are allowed. A detailed required gear list is enforced year round with additional requirements if wind chill is expected below negative 20°F. The event has limited entry, no race day registration, and a no refund, no transfer, no deferral policy except for emergencies. Entry fees are $85 for the 30 hour and $35 for the 15 mile.
