F.I.T.mas Trail Race - Cumberland, RI
F.I.T.mas Trail Race is a trail running event held in a park at 1464 Diamond Hill Rd, Cumberland, RI. The race starts and finishes at the field next to the Senior Center. Ample parking is available near the Senior Center and the race assembly is toward the back of the park.
Races use a rolling start format; runners must pass through the start and finish lines so their timing chips record properly. Timing is provided by the Orbiter timing system, with live results at the timing table and official results posted within a few days. Participants must wear their timing chip for the entire race. A 4 hour multi-lap option follows the 5 mile course and only laps completed by the 4 hour mark count; if a runner is midway through a lap at that point, the previous checkpoint is used for results.
Course details vary by distance. The kids 1 mile is mostly smooth with some hills and one crosswalk. The 5k is more technical than the kids loop and separates from 5 mile runners on course. The 5 mile course is the most technical of the set, with rocky sections, hills, and winding trail. Course markings use color flags and arrows for each distance.
Medical support is limited to basic first aid on site; further treatment is provided by local EMS if needed. The event is part of the TrailFecta series alongside F.I.T. Frills and a Turkey Trot, with a three piece connecting medal for participants who complete all three races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
