Tale of Two Trails
Tale of Two Trails is a trail running event at Shawnee Mission Park in Shawnee, Kansas, organized by Team Sparkle. The event offers multiple distance options and uses two separate trail systems in the park; most longer distances combine both systems and loops.

- 20 miles
- 10 miles
The 20 mile loop is the building block for the longer distances; the 10 mile course runs on a single trail system. Trails include a mix of smooth runnable sections and technical sections with roots, rocks, and rolling hills, mostly under tree canopy with some exposed stretches. The course will be marked with flags, ribbons, and signage, and participants are responsible for following the marked route. Trails remain open to the public during the event.
If the primary trails are closed for wet conditions, organizers will use a backup 10 mile route that mixes cross country, gravel, paved sections, and power line corridors with one central aid station. Aid stations are cupless; participants must carry a reusable cup. Aid station supplies include drinks, fruit, sandwiches, salty snacks, sweets, and late afternoon soup. Drop bags are permitted for 40 mile and 50 mile runners at designated locations and must be properly labeled. Pacers and crew policies, cutoffs, award categories, and conduct expectations are detailed by the organizer. Registration closes October 1.
