Suffer on Centennial
Suffer on Centennial is a trail running event in Whiteshell Provincial Park, about 160 km east of Winnipeg on Treaty No. 3 land. The event offers multiple point to point and loop routes on mostly single-track and Trans Canada Trail sections with less than 1 km of road on course.
Distances include:
- 100 km with a relay option for teams up to six runners
- 50 km
- 25 km
- 8 km
The terrain follows classic Canadian Shield features: exposed granite ridge-lines, rock slabs, rooty and wet boreal forest, short steep climbs and some scramble sections. The 100 km route crosses the Red Bridge at Hanson’s Creek and uses a new connector trail added in 2026. The first half of the 100 km is described as more technical and remote, with aid stations spaced roughly every 16 km in some sections.
Logistics noted on course include marked routes, limited cell service on the early sections, crew-accessible aid stations at specific points, drop bag rules, and shuttle options for 50 km and 100 km participants for an additional fee. Pacers are permitted for the 100 km from the halfway aid station. Mandatory gear requirements include on-course hydration minimums, a packable waterproof jacket and extra nutrition; requirements vary by distance.
Cutoff times are enforced: a total cutoff of 18 hours for the 100 km and 16 hours for the 50 km, with an intermediate 9 hour cutoff near the halfway point of the 100 km. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
