About the race
The Sri Chinmoy timed-loop event in Magnuson Park, Seattle offers solo running races in two time formats: 13 hour and 7 hour. The course is a scenic 1.54 mile loop that passes Lake Washington and includes some wooded single track. Surfaces include pavement, gravel and chip, and the start and finish are located by the swimming beach with free parking nearby.
The event uses chip lap counting and provides a well-stocked aid station with water, electrolytes, packaged foods, potatoes, simple sandwiches, nuts, fruits and vegetables, first aid and caffeinated drinks. Participants are encouraged to bring their own fluid bottles to reduce cup waste. Facilities at the site include washrooms, a solar heated outdoor shower and a post-race swimming beach.
Entry includes a running t-shirt; registrants who register by April 23 are guaranteed a race t-shirt. A boxed vegetarian post-race meal is provided. Awards consist of medallions and certificates for all participants and top placements for male and female finishers in Under 60 and 60 and over categories. Organizers note a cheerful, meditative atmosphere and volunteer support during the event.
All races are open to runners age 18 and older. Proceeds from the event support the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run. Entry fees and registration windows are set by the organizer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
