Space Oddity

Space Oddity is a trail event held at Hurn Forest, based at the Hospital Services Cricket Club, Neptune Drive, St Leonards, Ringwood BH24 2FB. The route is an out and back that follows the main forest track and uses a well maintained hardstanding surface.

The course is lap based. Participants can choose their distance on the day, from single laps up to ultra marathon distances. All finishers completing one lap or more receive a Bowie inspired medal.

  • 5.3 km / 3.28 mile lap
  • Distances available from 5K to ultra marathon

Facilities at the cricket club include bag drop, toilets and a clubhouse adjacent to the start and finish area. An aid station called RunDMC will supply a selection of savoury and sweet items and space themed snacks and refreshments at the start and finish of each lap. There is also an area to leave personal items. Plastic cups are not provided.

Trail shoes are recommended but not essential due to the hardstanding track. The event is licensed by the TRA and will be run under UKA rules; distance restrictions apply to participants aged 20 or under. Twenty percent of entry costs will be donated to Forestry England. The event can be entered as part of The Imperial March series alongside Intergalactic. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
