Southern States 200, Delta AL : March 17, 2027

The Southern States 200 is a point-to-point mountain trail event on the Pinhoti Trail, running from near Dalton, Georgia to the summit of Mt. Cheaha in Alabama. The full course covers 202.41 miles with 27,933 feet of elevation gain and is described by organizers as an endurance adventure rather than a traditional timed race. Runners are allotted 100 hours to complete the course. The route is fully marked with prismatic reflective flags, ribbons, and signs.

Support on course includes 15 fully staffed aid stations serving made-to-order hot food around the clock; five of these stations offer heated sleep stations with sleeping pads and bags in dedicated tents. One additional unstaffed water-only station is available.

Logistics notes from organizers include a finish area at Bald Rock Lodge in Cheaha State Park with a limited number of reserveable rooms, a host hotel in Dalton, GA, and shuttle service for runners without a crew. Volunteer benefits include a $150 credit per full day (12-hour minimum), transferable credits, and a complimentary entry after five full volunteer days.
