About the race
South Wales - D Day Military Series Run is the second event in a four part military themed series commemorating key dates from World War II. It takes place on Saturday 12 June 2027 at Parc Taf Bargoed, Rock UK Summit Centre, The Old Drift Mine, Trelewis, Merthyr Tydfil. The event is a timed, multi‑lap format on a 5.3 km out and back course (3.28 miles per lap). The route is multi terrain with the majority on tarmac paths, about 0.5 miles on riverside trail, and an overall elevation gain of 37 m.
Participants may run or walk as many laps as they wish within a seven hour time limit; the minimum distance is one lap (3.28 miles). Distances offered include: - 5 km - 10 km - Half marathon - Marathon - Ultra Finishers receive a bespoke finishers medal for the event. Each standalone event medal measures 160 mm tall, and completing all four events combines the medals into a single mural 320 mm wide by 160 mm tall with a flag background. A trial no medal entry option is available from £20; standard entry fees include an affiliated price of £33 and an unaffiliated price of £35.
The organiser operates flexible "rock up and run" start times and staggered starts. Welsh Athletics race licence has been applied for and UK Athletics distance restrictions apply for participants aged 20 and under. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
