South Downs 50k
The South Downs 50k is a 50km point to point trail race from Falmer to Eastbourne, run mainly along the South Downs Way through the South Downs National Park. The route finishes above the white cliffs of Beachy Head and covers approximately 3,500 feet of ascent and descent. Terrain is mostly grass trails with some farm tracks and forest paths, and the course is mainly runnable with little technical ground. The surface is listed as 99% trail and 1% road.
The event includes four well stocked aid stations, live GPS tracking and chip timing, a bespoke finisher medal and winner trophies. It is an UTMB Index race offering 2 ITRA points. Entries are on a first come first served basis with no qualifier required; entries close one week before the race or when entry limits are reached. The listed entry fee is £78 and includes a mandatory GPS tracker. A free shuttle bus operates from the finish to local hotels and Eastbourne Train Station. Permits are granted through ARC with the permit number pending.
Refunds are available at 50% up until March 2nd 2026; after that time refunds are not given except for pregnancy. Deferrals to 2027 and transfers to another runner can be made under the organisers stated conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
