Something To Talk About
Something To Talk About is a forest trail event held at Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre in the New Forest, with a Grade I listed "calendar" manor house as a backdrop. The event uses a looped trail through woodland, including boardwalk sections and routes alongside lakes. The course is described as technical, with uneven ground and tree roots in places.
Participants may choose how far to run on the day, completing one or more loops to reach distances up to an ultramarathon. All finishers of at least one loop receive a newly designed metal medal. Number pick-up is available on event day at race registration.
A central aid station called Run DMC is positioned at the start and finish of each lap and supplies drinks plus a range of sweet and savoury snacks, including roast potatoes and cheese. The event operates a cupless policy, so runners are asked to bring their own cup. Toilets, showers and changing facilities are provided on site. Camping is available through Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Centre.
The event is licensed by the TRA and will be run under UKA rules; distance restrictions apply to participants aged 20 or under. Onsite parking is free but limited, and several nearby train stations provide public transport options. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
