About the race
SilverBackTrails Wade’s Revenge is a trail half marathon held in the North York Moors National Park, starting and finishing at Levisham Village Hall in Pickering. The event follows the Wade’s Revenge course in the opposite direction for the Widdershins Edition and covers roughly 13.1 miles. The route passes through forest tracks, ancient paths and sheep trods, open fields, wooded valleys and expansive moorland, including passage through the Hole of Horcum.
The event has a 5 hour time limit and places are limited to 50 participants. There are two checkpoints on course supplying flapjacks, crisps, sweets, water and soft drinks. Tea, coffee, soup and a roll are provided at the finish. Marshals and flagged sections will assist navigation; entrants receive a GPX route file and a master route map at registration.
All finishers receive a bespoke medal. No entries are accepted on the day. Refunds are not given but entry transfers are allowed up to one week before the event. An optional event technical T shirt is available from the organiser’s club shop for £18.
Entrants must be at least 16 years old on the day and must carry mandatory kit including a waterproof jacket with taped seams unless Paramo, hat or buff or gloves, emergency bivvy, spare long sleeve insulating top, charged mobile phone, at least 500 ml of fluid and 120 g of emergency food, a working compass and OS Explorer 27 or Harvey’s North Yorkshire Moors map. Spot kit checks will be made and failure to carry required items may lead to withdrawal and future entry restrictions. A £1 per car parking contribution is collected at registration for the village hall and the national park. Dogs are permitted on a lead and will start after other participants.
