SilverBackTrails Oswiu’s Revenge - Half Marathon
Oswiu’s Revenge is a trail running event of approximately 13.2 miles around the Black Hambleton and Silton Woods area south of Osmotherley on 16 May 2027. The route follows forest tracks and ancient trods, with varied terrain and technical ascents and descents, and offers views across the North Yorkshire Moors and the Vale of York.
The event has a four hour time limit. Competitors must carry a minimum kit including a waterproof jacket with taped seams unless Paramo, hat and gloves, a spare thermal top or jacket for emergency use, an emergency bivvy bag, at least 500 ml of fluid, about 60 grams of food, a fully charged mobile phone with What3words and OS Locate or OS Maps loaded, a working compass, and an OL 26 OS Map or Harvey’s Map of the North Yorkshire Moors. Route marking will include some flags and marshals, the route will be shown on a master map at registration, and a GPX file will be sent to participants; a recce of the route is advised.
There will be one checkpoint on course providing water, coke and sweets and snacks, plus provisions suitable for vegetarians and vegans, and further supplies at the finish. Each finisher receives a bespoke medal and a certificate. The start is at Square Corner near Osmotherley. Entry is limited to 50 participants, minimum age is 18, and all entries are handled via SiEntries with no entries on the day. Ample parking is available with a £1 charge per car donated to the National Park. Canine running partners are allowed on a short lead or harness; dog powered runners start five minutes after the main field and have an adjusted time limit.
