SilverBackTrails Oswiu’s Revenge - Half Marathon

Oswiu's Revenge is a trail running event of circa 13.2 miles around the Black Hambleton and Silton Woods area south of Osmotherley. The route follows forest tracks and ancient trods and offers views across the North Yorkshire Moors and the Vale of York. The event starts and finishes at Square Corner just outside Osmotherley.

The course includes a number of technical ascents and descents and varied terrain; participants should expect navigation challenges and extensive views. The route will be marked with some flags and assisted by marshals. A master map is available at registration and a GPX file will be sent to participants beforehand; a recce of the route is advised.

Each finisher receives a bespoke medal and a certificate. There is a four hour time limit. Aid is available at one checkpoint on course and at the finish, providing water, coke and sweets plus provisions suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Entry is limited to 50 participants, restricted to those aged 18 or older, and all entries must be made in advance via SiEntries with no entries on the day. The published entry fee is £25. Optional event technical T shirt is available via the club shop for £18.

Mandatory minimum kit includes a waterproof jacket with taped seams unless Paramo, hat and gloves, a spare thermal top or jacket for emergency use, an emergency bivvy bag, at least 500 ml of fluid and about 60 g of food, a fully charged mobile phone with What3words and OS Locate or OS Maps, a working compass and an OL 26 OS Map or Harvey's Map of the North Yorkshire Moors. There is ample parking at the start and finish; a £1 per car charge will be collected and donated to the National Park. Canine running partners are permitted if kept on a short lead or harness and they start five minutes after other competitors with a corresponding adjustment to their time limit.
