Shenipsit Striders Summer Fatass

The Shenipsit Striders Summer Fatass is an outdoor trail event held at Crandall's Pavilion in Tolland, CT. The event runs for 8 hours and invites participants to complete as many or as few laps as they choose on a marked 5K-ish trail course. The course is routed through local trails with the start and finish at the pavilion and is described as roughly a 3-mile loop.

Food and social elements are part of the event. Organizers provide pancakes in the morning, burgers and hot dogs during the day, and drinks. The event is organized as a potluck; attendees can sign up to bring snacks, desserts, or dishes. No entry fee is charged, and a donation jar will be available for voluntary contributions.

The event is organized by the Shenipsit Striders, a nonprofit trail running club founded in 1975. The club states that its races aim to support Connecticut trail stewardship and land use programs. The Summer Fatass combines on-trail running with a community gathering at the pavilion, using a looped trail format so individual participants can set their own pace and lap count during the allotted eight-hour period. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
