Seven Sisters 25k in Montreat, NC
The Seven Sisters 25k is a mountain trail race in Montreat, North Carolina, organized by Tanawha Adventures and scheduled for April 17, 2027. The course is roughly 25 kilometers (about 15 miles) and follows the East and West ridges of the Montreat Wilderness.
The route passes multiple peaks and overlooks, including Lookout Rocks, Rocky Head, Graybeard, Rattlesnake Rocks, and the Seven Sisters along the West Ridge Trail. The course is approximately 95% trail with about 4,000 feet of elevation gain. The event has a 5 hour time limit and aid stations located at about mile 4 and mile 8 with cutoff rules in place.
Participation requires prior trail running experience. Runners must carry required gear at all times, including a rain shell, at least a 20 ounce water carrying device, a whistle, a cell phone, and an emergency blanket. Race rules require staying on marked trails, not cutting switchbacks, using proper trail etiquette, avoiding littering, and following requests from race officials.
Logistics note that there is no parking at the start; designated parking is nearby and the start/finish area is about a third of a mile walk from parked cars. The race is cupless. Packet pickup is available at Mountain Running Company in downtown Black Mountain the Friday before the race from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with race day pickup offered the morning of the event.
Refunds are permitted minus $20 up to 60 days before the event; no transfers or deferments are allowed. If canceled, the race may be converted to a virtual format run on the actual course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
