Seat Sandal Fell Race : Grasmere
This is a fell race around Seat Sandal, based at a field adjacent to Winter Seed Lane in Grasmere, Cumbria (LA22 9RR; grid reference NY 3372 0881). The advertised route covers 7.4 km (4.6 miles) with approximately 700 m (2297 ft) of climb. Entry is limited to a maximum of 500 participants and the minimum age is 18. Teams are permitted.
Competitors must carry full kit in accordance with FRA rules. The FRA do not allow the use of certain GPS functions for navigation in their races; runners should plan kit and navigation accordingly. Skills and experience codes given for the event are ER, PM, LK, NS.
Route notes indicate partial flagging at the start and finish. Runners should use the Winter Seed Lane public footpath for recceing. On the ascent competitors must keep east of Tongue Gill to Grisedale Hause, then follow the path to the control point on Seat Sandal; flags will direct the descent to the control point at NY 33782 10226. Car parking is available at Grasmere Sports Ground, about a ten minute walk from the start and finish; additional local laybys and public car parks may be used considerately.
