Santa Cruz Trail Run - Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park
The Santa Cruz Trail Run takes place on August 22, 2026 at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park in Felton, CA. The event offers multiple trail distances:
- 30K - 18.2 miles, 3,250 ft elevation gain
- Half Marathon - 13.5 miles, 2,625 ft elevation gain
- 10K - 6.0 miles, 980 ft elevation gain
The course runs mostly on moderately technical dirt trails and twisty single-track, with sections of dirt fire road and a brief paved all-access trail. Runners pass through a loose sand ridge called the golden half-mile and experience ocean breezes from the nearby coast. The 30K and Half Marathon include two crossings of the San Lorenzo River. Hiking or trekking poles are permitted.
Aid stations are located roughly every 5 to 6 miles and may provide energy gels, stroop-waffles, trail mix, pretzels, sandwiches, soda, electrolyte drink mixes, water, seasonal fruit, and basic first aid supplies. Drop bag services are not available. The event is cupless; aid stations do not provide paper cups and reusable cups or soft flasks are available for purchase at the event.
Additional details: capacity is 330 runners, parking at the park is $10, dogs are not allowed in the park, timing uses disposable chips on the back of bibs, and there is a 6 hour time limit for the race. Awards include overall and age-group prizes and a finisher medal for all finishers. Race shirts are performance tri-blend; guaranteed sizes require registration by August 8, 2026.
