About the race
April 10, 2027 at Sabino Canyon (5700 N Sabino Canyon Rd, Tucson, AZ) features two timed distances along the paved tram road into the canyon.
- 7.4 mile race
- 2 mile fun run/walk
The 7.4 mile course follows the paved main tram road with the first 3.7 miles generally uphill and the return on the same road for downhill miles. Runners should stay to the right around islands and course obstacles. Aid stations with water are located at miles 1.7, 3.4, and 5.1. The 2 mile course starts at mile post 0, proceeds up the tram road for 1 mile, then returns the same way; there will be no aid station on the 2 mile course, so participants are advised to bring their own water.
Entries include event shirts for all registrants. 7.4 mile finishers receive a finisher medal; the 7.4 mile event awards overall and age-group prizes including gift certificates from Performance Footwear. Food and refreshments at the finish line include pizza and Eegees. Volunteers staff aid stations and finish-line support. The event benefits Friends of Sabino Canyon.
Registration is online only, subject to participation caps, and has historically sold out; transfers, refunds, and deferrals are not permitted. Runners in the 7.4 mile event must maintain a sub-19 minute per mile pace and reach the course cutoffs at mile 3.7 and mile 5.1 or be removed from the course. Parking options include the main Sabino Canyon lot and nearby school lots, and a National Parks pass or day-use fee is required for canyon entry.
