Alpine Challenge
The Alpine Challenge takes place in Falls Creek, Victoria on 3 to 4 April 2027. The event centre is at Slalom Plaza, 17 Bogong High Plains Rd, Falls Creek VIC 3699. Multiple mountain trail race distances are offered over the two days.
- 100 mile - 160 km, 7,050 m ascent/descent, 42 hour cut-off, minimum age 18
- 100 km - 99 km, 2,905 m ascent/descent, 26 hour cut-off, minimum age 18
- 60 km - 61 km, 1,980 m ascent/descent, 12 hour cut-off, minimum age 18
- Marathon - 42 km, 900 m ascent/descent, 8 hour cut-off, minimum age 18
- 25 km - 25 km, 480 m ascent/descent, 5 hour cut-off, minimum age 16
- 10 km - 10 km, 260 m ascent/descent, 3 hour cut-off, minimum age 12
- Kids Race - 1 km, 60 m ascent, no minimum age, age 12 or younger eligible; parents may accompany
The 100 mile event is a Hardrock qualifier; finishers are able to enter the Hardrock lottery for the two years following the race. Pacers for the 100 mile must register online for a fee, only one pacer may accompany a runner at any time, and a pacer may join for a maximum of two stages starting from Cope Hut onwards. Stages for pacers are Cope Hut to Alpine Gateway, Alpine Gateway to Harrietville, and Harrietville to Pretty Valley or the finish. Pacers must provide their own transport, carry mandatory gear, have the gear checked at registration, and collect a pacer bib.
Course maps and GPX files are provided for the races. Alpine Search and Rescue is the event charity partner; volunteers provide radio communications on course, first aid, search and rescue capability, and aftercare.
