Beach Race - Runners-next-the-Sea
The Runners-next-the-Sea Beach Race is organised by the local running club and takes place on Holkham Beach at the end of Lady Anne’s Drive. Entry categories include affiliated and unaffiliated rates, and entrants must be 16 or older.
The course is just over 5.5 miles and runs entirely on sand, combining sandy paths and open beach. There is a shallow water crossing at about four miles; the crossing will be clearly marked and staffed by marshals. The event holds a UKA race license issued by the Trail Running Association and complies with UKA Rules for Trail Races. Runners must not run with dogs or pushchairs and are asked not to wear headphones so they can hear marshal instructions.
Registration is based at The Lookout cafe at the beach end of Lady Anne’s Drive, where race numbers are allocated; participants should bring their own safety pins. Car parking is available at Lady Anne’s Drive pay and display car park; an extension permit is used to cover the event period. Toilets are provided at the registration area but are limited.
All finishers receive a memento. Prizes are awarded for first, second and third male and female finishers. A first aid provider will be present. Photos will be taken during the event and may be published; participants can request deletion by contacting the organisers. The route may change because of dune restoration and wildlife conservation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
