Run for the Rescue 5K Trail Run/Walk
Run for the Rescue is a 5K trail run/walk held at Blydenburgh County Park Campground Playground on Veterans Memorial Highway in Smithtown, NY. The route runs through park trails and includes sections of sand, dirt roads, hard-packed trails and some pavement. Bathrooms are located within a few minutes' walk of the start and finish.
The event is dog friendly; dogs must be on a leash at all times, should not be left unattended, and participants with dogs are asked to begin toward the back of the pack for safety. An informal bag check area will be available in the staging area; organizers do not assume responsibility for personal belongings. Hydration is provided at the finish line and refreshments are supplied by All Round Foods and Waterloo Sparkling Water.
Online recognition is provided for top finishers: Top 1 F/M/X overall and Top 1 F/M/X in the following age groups 14 & Under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, and 90+. Bib pickup is available in person at Picnic Areas 1-5 and virtual participants will receive bibs by mail when race gear ships; allow three to five days for late registrants to receive mailed bibs.
A portion of event proceeds benefit Last Chance Animal Rescue and donations and fundraising directly impact LCAR. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
