Run for the Rescue 5K Trail Run/Walk
Run for the Rescue is a 5K trail run and walk held at Blydenburgh County Park Campground Playground on Veterans Memorial Highway in Smithtown, NY. Registration is not yet open.
The course follows park trails and includes a mixture of sand, dirt roads, hard packed trails and some pavement. Bathrooms are located within a few minutes walk from the start and finish. Hydration is provided at the finish area. An informal bag check area is available in the staging area; the organizer does not assume responsibility for personal belongings. High quality refreshments are provided by All Round Foods and Waterloo Sparkling Water.
The park allows dogs with rules in place: dogs must be on a leash at all times, must not be left unattended, and participants with dogs are asked to start at the back of the pack for safety.
Bib pickup is managed by event staff at Picnic Areas 1-5 for in person entries. Virtual entries receive bibs by mail; mailed bibs may take several days to arrive after late sign up.
Parking options include primary parking at Picnic Areas 1-5 reached from the Veterans Highway entrance, secondary parking at the boat launch, and additional parking near the park entrance and dog park.
Age group recognition is offered for overall top finishers and in multiple age brackets from 14 and under through 90 plus. Live online, email and text results are available along with same day finish line photos and video.
