Ruck a Chuck 50K
The Ruck a Chuck 50K is an ultramarathon event held in Foresthill, California. The race takes place in the Sierra Nevada foothills and utilizes portions of the historic Western States Trail, known for its significance in the American endurance running tradition. The course is an out and back format starting from the Driver's Flat staging area and heading toward Foresthill.
The terrain consists of rugged landscapes within the American River Canyon, including dense forests and rolling hills. Runners will cross rivers and encounter over 6,500 feet of positive elevation throughout the 31 mile distance. Because the course covers remote areas with limited vehicle access, strict cutoff times are enforced at the aid stations.
Participants have access to several aid station locations during the run. These stations provide water, electrolyte drinks, soda, and various food items such as fruit, potatoes, and salty snacks. This is a cupless event, meaning runners are required to carry their own reusable cups or water bottles to minimize waste on the trails.
Event parking is located off Foresthill Road, approximately half a mile from the starting line. A shuttle service operates before and after the race to transport participants between the parking lot and the staging area.
