Rubble Creek Classic : event description

The Rubble Creek Classic is a trail race held in Garibaldi Provincial Park. The 2026 edition is scheduled for 13 September. The official distance is 25 km with 1080 m of ascent and 1353 m of descent. The course starts at the Cheakamus car park and finishes at the Rubble Creek car park.

The route climbs the switchbacks of the Cheakamus Lake trail, crosses the flowered meadows of Taylor Creek, passes near the volcanic Black Tusk, and descends to the shores of Garibaldi Lake. Entry is limited to 100 racers; the 2026 event is listed as sold out and there is no waitlist.

The race is 100% self supported with no aid stations on course. A sweep clears the route and there is first aid on course and at both the start and finish. Trekking poles are allowed.

Organizers require mandatory kit and publish two lists for good and bad weather. Typical requirements include a windproof jacket, 1 L water carrying capacity, and 400 kcal; for bad weather the list adds a waterproof hooded jacket and an emergency blanket. The required kit will be confirmed about five days before the race and checked on race morning.

Parking at the start is not permitted; runners must be dropped off or use the off road shuttle, which drops at a turnaround 1 km from the start. The shuttle must be prebooked. A start-to-finish bag transfer is available in 2026. There is a no refund policy but entries can be transferred to another runner until 1 September. An afterparty is planned in Squamish with food and drinks provided by the sponsor Arc'teryx. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
