Rothwell Kebabathon

The event starts at Skelton Lake Services off the M1 (J45) and uses nearby Rothwell Country Park. The services include a rooftop bird hide and onsite facilities. For each participant, 50p is donated to the RSPB.

The course runs from behind the services into mixed terrain: woodland, riverside paths, grass trail and some road. The route includes a single notable undulation that provides a view of Leeds City Centre. A 6.5 hour cut-off is applied and both walkers and runners may take part.

Distances offered:

  • Marathon - five 5-mile loops plus a 1.2 mile out-and-back
  • 20 Miles - four 5-mile loops
  • 15 Miles - three 5-mile loops
  • 10 Miles - two 5-mile loops
  • 5 Miles - one 5-mile loop

Support and safety information notes that water and feed stations are located roughly every 3 miles and the event aims to be cupless. Friendly marshals are present and there may be unmarshalled road crossings. Large over-ear headphones are not permitted; bone-conducting devices or one-ear usage is advised.

Finish arrangements include a bespoke medal, kebabs and hot and cold drinks, with a social finish area. Plenty of free parking is available and car sharing is encouraged to reduce environmental impact. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
