The Rancho Hills Trail Run takes place at Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve in Morgan Hill, California on Saturday, November 13, 2027. The event offers a range of trail distances over single-track trails and dirt roads with substantial climbing and exposed sections that include oak-shaded creek areas and panoramic views of the Santa Cruz Mountains and Bay Area.
Distances include:
- 5K
- 10K
- 8 Mile
- 10 Mile
- Half Marathon
- 30K
- Trail Marathon
- 50K
Courses are very hilly; reported total ascent increases with distance, up to 6,059 feet on the 50K. Aid and water are provided at the start/finish aid station (Rancho Canada del Oro) and at Bald Peaks/Needlegrass, with additional water stops noted on course. Runners are strongly encouraged to carry at least one, preferably two water bottles or a hydration pack. There are several no-ribbon sections on specific trail segments; signs will be posted at affected trailheads. Drop bags are allowed only at the Rancho Canada del Oro aid station.
Cutoff time limits are specified per distance (for example, 5K - 1 hour; 10K - 2 hours; 50K - 9 hours) and primary course cutoffs are enforced. Wildlife caution: watch for rattlesnakes. Parking is restricted; an overflow lot is located about 500 yards past check-in on Casa Loma Road. One public toilet is available in the main front parking lot; additional restrooms are farther away.
