About the race
The Ramona Wine Country 5K is a trail-based running event held at BackCountry Gardens in Ramona, California. The course is composed of two 1.5 mile loops, with a single-loop option available. The terrain includes trails, mud, hills, streams and boulders, and course features some natural obstacles.
Distances and event types:
- 5K - trail course with two 1.5 mile loops (single loop option available)
- 1 mile Beer Mile - four 400 meter laps combined with beer drinks
The 5K is offered in several heats: a Competitive Heat for individuals, a Competitive Heat for cross country teams (teams must consist of at least three men, three women, or three mixed), and a Fun Run division that is not timed and has no awards. Participants ages 8–12 are asked to enter the Fun Run and must have a parent or guardian run with them because of the terrain.
The Beer Mile is a charity solo and team event with individual and team categories; teams must have 2–4 members. Participants must be 21 or older for the Beer Mile. Registration fees apply per division. Packet pick-up is onsite the day of the event from 8:00 AM to 8:45 AM.
Registration benefits listed by the organizer include a Ramona Ranch wine tasting, a finisher’s medal, race swag, music from Ramona Radio, food for purchase, and free parking. A portion of proceeds supports Operation Rebound. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
