Race The Light

Race The Light is a trail event on the Erme Estuary at Mothecombe that offers two course options and includes estuary crossings and estate woodland running. The classic route is an 8.5 mile course that starts on the estuary slipway, moves to the SchoolhouseDevon area, descends to a river crossing, runs through the privately owned Flete Estate, then returns for a second crossing and a steep uphill finish. The race includes a double crossing of the River Erme estuary.

The half marathon follows parts of the classic route but omits the two woodland loops and adds a roughly five mile section on the South West Coast Path before returning west to a final crossing at Wonwell. There is a three hour cut-off for the second estuary crossing on the half marathon.

Course marshals will mark and staff the route. First aid is available on course and at event headquarters. A head torch is mandatory due to light and tidal considerations. Dogs are not permitted with runners during the race. Each finisher receives a bespoke Race The Light medal. The event offers an optional XCover purchase for potential refund protection. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
